I finally got the 5 rolls of film developed today. I’d really love it if y’all would go over to Flickr and check them out and leave me some feedback on them. Thanks!!! I’m off to bed since I’ve been going for over 24 hours now.
So I decided to put all of the photos that I have/want feedback on Flickr. You can see them by following the previous link or from the link in the sidebar. Please look and leave me some feedback.
Here in Ohio there has been a new piece of legislation introduced to ban the owning of pit bull type breeds throughout the state. I find this type of legislation to be unfair and unnecessary. No breed of dog is more likely to attack a human than another. It all comes down to the individual dog and the owner of that dog. Any dog with the right, or should I say wrong owner can potentially cause harm to a human. It all comes down to the training and care of the animal. Dogs do not premeditate their actions, they react to the situation that they are put in. More of a problem is the fact that people don’t teach their children to not approach strange dogs. How many times do you see a child going up to a strange dog because they want to pet it? I know that this has happened when I’m out with my dog. I have no problem with allowing someone to pet my dog, but ask first. You don’t know what any dog is going to do in any given situation. Don’t punish an entire breed just because of some bad owners.
I don’t know if I’ll get any responses to this question or not, but I figured why the hell not ask it, Does anyone know how I could get some honest critique on some photographs I’ve taken? I always wanted to take a photography class in high school and then college, but it never worked out for me. So I’m trying to figure out how I can get some honest feedback about the pictures I’ve taken over the years. If any one has any suggestions, please let me know.
Two weeks doesn’t really seem that long sometimes. Other times it can seem like an eternity. I mean I know when you’re closing in on a deadline like say an election a week can seem more like a month. Well when it comes to me and my besttie it can seem like an eternity and at the same time like days. First to keep it in perspective, we have actually only been in the same city for like 6 days in the last 4 years, so our communications have been via internet or phone. There are times when we can go a month or longer without talking and we talk for at least an hour. And then there are the other times when it’s been a week or two and we still talk for at least an hour. I have to say I love how we never miss a beat. We can always pick up where we left off, and isn’t that what being someone’s best friend is all about?
So I went to another Cleveland Indians game with my mom and sister tonight (or rather last night). We once again had a great time, too bad the Tribe lost the game. Seriously, who intentionally walks a batter with two on in extra innings? Well anyways we did get really cool 70’s style trucker hats as a freebie.
CONTINUATION:
Now that I’m not dead on my feet tired, I can actually think to write a little more.
In all the game was fun. My mom, sister and I always seem to manage to have a good time together. The one moment of the game that my sister claims is her favorite moment, happened during the only successful wave of the game. Earlier in the evening my mom commented to my sister that it would really suck if one of the guys behind us spilled his beer down one of our backs. Well during the wave the guy sitting behind and to the right of me had just picked up his full glass of beer. Instead of putting it down before he joined in he did the wave with beer in hand, causing it to slosh out of his glass all over the empty seat next to me, and getting part of my back and the guy sitting two seats down from me. That guy was pissed. I mean come on, it happens. I on the other hand laughed it off… both my cameras were dry, no harm done. The guy who did the spilling was apologizing over and over and I just kept on telling him it was no problem. I mean it’s not like the first time someone has spilled on me and I know I’ve spilled on people in the past. It happens, no need to be an asshole about it. Ah the good times to be had at the ballpark.
I’ve been making a lot of lists lately. Wish lists, to do lists, not to do lists. My wish lists are getting simpler. They’ve really narrowed down to focus on my interests. Gone are the ambitions of making it in the campaign world, now my biggest ambition is to go back to school and get my master’s degree that will enable me to get a decent job so that I’ll be able to support myself and my hobbies. I think making lists is a very good idea. It keeps me organized and on task. Usually if I don’t plan things out in advance nothing good comes of anything. So what exactly do these lists encompass. Well, the first list I started making was of the remaining equipment I need to be fully outfitted to start making camping trips all on my lonesome. There really isn’t a whole lot that I need for that. The next list I started making is also modest (although not in price). This list is of the few pieces of camera equipment I’d like to get so I can maybe get better in that hobby. Most recently I’ve started a list of things I’d either like to learn to do or pick back up. Most notable on the list are kayaking and shooting. I know the basics of paddling in a canoe, but I’ve never been in a kayak, I’ve always wanted to learn, but have never been in a position to. Now shooting, I haven’t been shooting in years, but it’s not something you forget how to do. However I’d like to expand beyond target shooting and learn sporting shooting, you know, trap and skeet. Target shooting is a great stress reliever.
We’ll see what happens with these lists. Hopefully I can start ticking items off soon.
So recently here in Ohio Gov. Strickland signed into law revisions to Ohio’s concealed carry law, making the law less restrictive. The main part of this bill was to “ provide{s} legal assurances that a person who opens fire on a potential attacker or intruder, whether to protect his home, property, or another person on his property, is presumed to be acting in self-defense, provided the attacker ‘is in the process of entering or has entered, unlawfully and without privilege to do so, the residence or vehicle occupied by the person using the defensive force.’ ” There are those that are on both sides of this thing, but I think that the law is now more clear and falls more in line with Ohio’s Bill of Rights.
In any case, I’m glad that Strickland signed the bill into law. It’s good to have a Democratic governor who has a similar view on guns. Not all of us on the left side of the aisle are anti-gun, even if some of us keep it a secret.
While I still have yet to get my 5 rolls of film developed that I took while in Rodanthe with my family I do have a few photos I’m quite proud of that I took with the point and shoot.
So in the past month or so I’ve started taking my dog to one of the two dog parks in my county (Yay Knox County!!), and I’ve discovered something quite shocking: I have a retriever who doesn’t retrieve. He used to be very good at it. I don’t know what’s happened. He’s lost all interest in it, that is unless he has some competition, but even then he chases the ball and then either doesn’t pick it up, or picks it up and then drops it a few feet later. I don’t know why this is the case. I mean I have a good idea why he’s afraid of water. When I first adopted him the night I brought him home he bolted when I started to fill his water bowl with the spray hose on the sink. My thinking is that he was likely sprayed with water by the children in the family he was owned by before me and it was done maliciously. I just wish he’d retrieve the ball like he used to. Is that too much to ask?
